Our Very First Edition

Welcome to our new site! Don’t mind the mess as we learn our way around the blogging world. We’re just as surprised as anyone to be here, really.  For those whom we haven’t met through Facebook yet, we are a mother,Courtney, and daughter, Cassi, team (a small gang, really) of vintage and Jesus loving gals who started a Facebook page to show a few creations and got a huge surprise when people began requesting a website, signing up for events (that we weren’t holding) and asking to come and shop. Best Seller Charity Sparrow Vintage
It’s all backwards. Usually someone has an idea, or product, creates a website for it, and then creates profiles on social media to promote the site. But, we never claimed to be normal, especially not me, Courtney, who will probably be writing 99% of posts as my beautiful daughter has just started college and has joined the working world.  She’ll pop in on occasion (like she does at home, needing her laundry done) and we’ll just enjoy her presence when she chooses to grace us with it. You moms will understand.

So, essentially the blog will be my healthier alternative to a full-blown mid-life crises meltdown as I go from a stay-at-home mom of two girls, to an empty nester with one daughter, Jessi, who has recently married, and the aforementioned daughter, Cassi, as she stretches her wings in preparation to fly the coop. My wonderful hubby, Larry, will be joining me in trying to navigate our empty nest, and he figures the cost of a website is a heck of a lot cheaper than therapy for me. I totally agree. And hopefully no negative side effects.
So, there you have it. Cassi and I are taking what was a Distressed Nest, and evolving into a blog, Charity Sparrow. If you’ve been a fan of Distressed Nest, then you know we serve up a daily heap of vintage, humor, and inspiration. You also know we post an awful lot about dreams, and chasing your dreams, so us taking this next step isn’t probably going to surprise you a whole lot.  It’s time.
Our page posts have been shared all over the world and featured by some of the biggest names in the vintage and blogging world. It has been an exciting ride, and we’ve met some really great people, and we look forward to meeting new vintage fans through the blog. We hope you’ll be inspired, find joy, and laugh a bit in this hectic world as you visit the blog…

Welcome to Charity Sparrow, where vintage tells a story.

  1. Courtney,
I connect with this site so much and after reading your New blog and hearing your life story I feel like I’m on the same page in my life too. I have a daughter who just got married last year and just brought a new home a couple of weeks ago. Now my second daughter is spreading her wings and moving out tomorrow to a loft apartment above our new business that we have together. It’s called Like Mother Like Daughter Vintage Treasures in Howell Michigan. A lot of things happening that are so exciting yet frightening too. I just love re-posting your stuff to my Facebook and spreading your great thoughts. I wanted to thank you and let you know how exciting I am for your next chapter along with mine. Keeping writing and I will keeping posting. You inspire me!!!
